Wilburn (Bud) Carroll
Wilburn (Bud) Carroll, 50, of 128 Curvey, Godfrey, suffered an apparent heart attack around 9:45 a.m. Friday while driving his car in the 2900 block of Godfrey Road. The 12-year resident of the Godfrey area was a bartender at Carroll's Lounge, Godfrey, and was a member of Bartender's Local 243. A native of Ina, Ill., he was born July 4, 1919, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Carroll. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 1308, of Alton. He is survived by his widow, the former Doris J. Beaty, whom he married Dec. 5, 1946 in Benton, Ill.; two sons, William of Godfrey and Michael, stationed with the United States Army at Ft. Lee, Va.; two brothers, George of Godfrey and Cecil of East Alton; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Helen) Turner of Edwardsville and Mrs. Mildred Bodine of Florissant, Mo. Visitation at Smith Funeral Home, Alton, will begin at 3 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the Johnson Funeral Home, Ina, Ill., for funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Byford Campbell in charge. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery, Jefferson County, Ill.
