Laura (Pulliam) Chambliss
Mrs. J.J. Chambliss, aged 46 years old, died at the family residence in Webber Township Wednesday morning at 7:20 o'clock of cancer of the liver. She had been an invalid for the last year. She was born in St. Clair County two miles north of Belleville, Sept. 18, 1861. In 1878 she removed with her family to Jefferson County. On Nov. 30, 1886, she married J.J. Chambliss who still survives her. To this union there was born seven children, five of whom are now living; Walter, Susan, Raymond, Harry and Oscar. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and has been a consistent member of the Baptist church since girlhood. She was a devoted mother and wife and respected by all who knew her. The funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Thursday being conducted by Rev. John Norman. Interment at family burying ground, the Clark cemetery.
