Oscar Chambliss

Oscar Chambliss died at 2:30 o'clock this morning at his home near Harmony in Farrington township, at the age of 52 years, five months and 22 days.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Harmony Baptist church, with Rev. Bird Green officiating, and burial will be in Harmony cemetery. The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call.

Mr. Chambliss, a carpenter, resided all his life in Jefferson county, with exception of a short time spent in St. Joseph, Ill.

He was born July 30, 1894, south of Harmony, the son of Joseph J. and Laura (Pulliam) Chambliss.

In 1915 he was married to Ida Purcell, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Talmadge Chambliss of Yorkville, La.; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Byars of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Moneda Hawkins of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Doris Chambliss of Opdyke; three brothers, Ray and Walter of St. Joseph, Ill. and Harry of Potomac, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Stonecipher and Mrs. Susie Webb of Mt. Vernon; a half-brother Fred Chambliss of Salem; and six grandchildren."
