Ronald E. Chambliss, 82, of Mt. Vernon died 2:10 a.m. Dec. 14, 2003, at his home. He was employed as a machinist at Joy Manufacturing.

He was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Mt. Vernon to Kelly and Etta (Holloway) Chambliss.

In 1954 he married Edna (McKowen) Chambliss in Salem.

Services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Sledge will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in rural Jefferson County.Visitation is set for noon Wednesday until the time of service.

Survivors include wife Edna Chambliss of Mt. Vernon; daughters Jo Woods of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sue Jones and husband Brad of Johnston City, LaDonna Marlow and husband Don of Texico, and Shelia Byars and husband Henry of Mt. Vernon; several grand and great-grand- children; and niece Mary Jane Musgrave of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald Chambliss, grandson Jeff Marlow, infant grand-daughter Jennifer Woods, and brother Quintin Chambliss.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
