Mrs Carrie Chase, of Wayne City, widow of Perry T. Chase died yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. A former resident of Mt. Vernon, she was 76 years of age at the time of death. She was born in Jefferson County February 23, 1881, the daughter of Wilford and Julia {Hughes} Irvin. On November 26, 1902, she was married to Mr. Chase, who died in 1947. Mrs. Chase was a member of the First Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon. Funeral services are to be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Richardson Chapel in Wayne City, conducted by the Rev. Everett LeMay and Dr. C. L. Peterson. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Vernon. The body will lie in state at the Richardson Chapel after 2 p.m. today. She is survived by two sons, Walter and Kermit K. Chase of Wayne City; one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Bonham of Fountainbleau, France; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lou Browning and Mrs. Mattie Browning of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Harriet Irvin of Lawrenceville. One son, Howard, and two brothers are dead.
