Perry T. Chase, 70, retired farmer, former resident of Mt. Vernon and one of the founders of the First National Bank of Wayne City, died at 7:45 a.m. yesterday at his home in Wayne City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Combs Chapel in Wayne City. Dr. C.I. Peterson will conduct the funeral and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. The body will lie in state at Combs Chapel.

Mr. Chase was born at Belle Rive, Ill. on July 21, 1876, the son of Elias H. and Elzirng(sp?) (Black) Chase.

He attended Playworth College in Fairfield, Ill., and on Nov. 26, 1903 he was married to Miss Carrie Irvin of Belle Rive. His wife survives.

Mr. Chase was one of the organizers of the First National Bank of Wayne City in 1913 and served as president of the Institution for a number of years. He left his farm home in 1920 and moved to Mt. Vernon where he made his residence until returning tot he farm in September, 1932.

Besides his wife, Mr. Chase is survived by two sons, K. Kermit Chase, of Wayne City and Walter Chase, of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Frank and Hibbie Chase, both of Belle Rive; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Bonham, of Scott Field, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Maxwell, Chicago, Mrs. Rea Barber, Galatia, Ill., and Mrs. Cora Cox of Huntington, W. Va. He is also survived by two grandchildren. A son and a daughter both preceded him in death.
