James W. Clark Dies At Age 78; Funeral Tuesday James William Clark, of 1108 south 12th street, died at 9:45 p. m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 78 years, seven months and 29 days of age. Mr. Clark, a retired salesman, had been critically ill since December and had been a hospital patient for three days prior to his death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p. m. at the Pulley Funeral Home. The Rev. Andrew Caraker will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will remain at the Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call. Mr. Clark was born in Mt. Vernon July 28, 1875, the son of J. W. and Catherine (Troutt) Clark. He was first married to Daisy M. Brown, who preceded him in death. He was later married to Daisy Yearwood, who survives. Mr. Clark retired in 1943, due to ill health, after more than 50 years as a salesman for the Howard & Casey Wholesale Co. He was a member of the First Baptist church and Masonic Lodge No. 31, A. F . & A. M. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter Catherine Shelton of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and three brothers, Pearl, Charles and Mort Clark, all of Mt. Vernon. A son, Norman E. Clark, preceded him in death November 24, 1952. He was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
