Melba Ruth Clark, 96, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 8:24 pm April 17, 2024 at St. Josephs Hospital North in Tampa, Florida.

She was born January 22, 1928 in Mount Vernon to Roy and Louis Snow Goddard.

She married Charles C. Clark on August 1, 1948 at Logan Street Baptist Church, they were married sixty-six years until he preceded her in death on May 15, 2014. They have one son, Charles Kent Clark of Tampa, Florida which she made her home, and his friend, Cheryl Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Roy and Louis Goddard, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, B.C. Clark and Dena Potter Clark, her sister-in-law, Geneva Clark Newman and brother-in-law, William Newman, her nephew, James Newman and niece, Jean Newman Cole, her brother-in-law, Barney Clark and sister-in-law, Kay Clark, and close friends, Marvis (Red) and Betty Marlow.

Survivors also include her close friends, Carolyn and Mark Keller and daughters, Amy and Kathleen Keller of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Judy and Harry Robertson of Dacula, Georgia, her closest friends in Mount Vernon, Marilyn and Mike Lusby and Don and Donna Yearwood.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois with Pastor Don Verhines officiating. Interment will follow.
