ED CLINTON IS KILLED BY AUTO NEAR INA TODAY Ed CLINTON, who lived a short distance north of Ina, was killed early today when he stepped from behind a car into the path of another auto on the state highway opposite the Kirk Cemetery, north of Ina. Rev. C. W. MARTIN of Bluford was driver of the car which struck CLINTON in the unavoidable accident. An inquest in the death was to be conducted by Coroner Howard HESTER at the Snyder Funeral Home in Ina late this afternoon. Deputy Coroner Hardy MANNEN and Sheriff Clyde D. MITCHELL visited the scene of the tragedy this morning and learned how the accident occurred. Mr. CLINTON and wife lived about three quarters of a mile east of Kirk Cemetery. Mrs. CLINTON was coming into Mt. Vernon and she and Mr. CLINTON walked to the highway where she was to be given a ride into Mt. Vernon by Fred CAMPBELL and Irvin PICKETT of Ina. PICKETT and CAMPBELL drove up in their car and stopped. CLINTON stepped from behind their car directly into the path of a southbound car which could not prevent hitting him. The body was taken to the Snyder Funeral Home in Ina. Funeral arrangements had not been completed early this afternoon.

"Uncle Eddie" CLINTON who was instantly killed yesterday when he was struck by a car north of Ina, were held at three o'clock this afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Ina, conducted by Rev. Riley BURTON. Coroner Howard HESTER conducted an inquest at the Snider Funeral Home in Ina yesterday afternoon and the cause of death was established as injuries received in an unavoidable accident. Mr. CLINTON stepped from behind one car into the path of another on the state highway in front of Kirk Cemetery. Mr. CLINTON, who was 70 years old last Tuesday, lived on the old CLINTON homestead, where he was born, his entire life. He was one of the most respected and well liked men in the community in which he lived, His home was about a mile northwest of Ina. Besides his wife, Bessie, he is survived by one brother, J. B. CLINTON, who resides on an adjoining farm, two sisters, Mrs. Harriet BOOK of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Eliza COOK of Ina, and a half-sister, Mrs. W. A. PICKETT.
