Floyd Coberly
Floyd Edward Coberly, Sr. 71, of Mt. Vernon died 5:30 pm, Nov. 7, 1995 at his home. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1961 and later was employed at General Radiator Co. for several years. Mr. Coberly was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Harry E. and Anna B. (Uselton) Coberly. Graveside services will be 1 pm Friday at West Salem Cemetery with Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Military flag presentation services will be conducted by the chaplain of American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. Those attending the graveside services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday afternoon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home. Mr. Coberly is survived by two sons, Clyde Coberly of Champaign and Floyd E. Coberly Jr. of Mt. Carmel; two daughters, Tammy Tadlock and husband Harold of Mt. Olive and Catherine B. Leturgey and husband Joseph of Mt. Carmel; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother, Harry Coberly and wife Meg of Farina; four sisters, Dorothy Calvert of Mt. Vernon, Betty Burwell and husband Ancil of Mt. Vernon and Shirley Higginson of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon and V.F.W Post 1376 of Mt. Vernon. Mr. Coberly was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one daughter.
