Mary Alice Coberly, 77, of Mt. Vernon, died at 5:17 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

She was born Sunday, March 29, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Harry E. and Anna Belle (Uselton) Coberly.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 9 at West Salem Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Mike Ilbery officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mary is survived by her brother, Harry Coberly Jr. and wife Meg of Farina; a sister, Geraldine “Betty” Burwell of Mt. Vernon; and a sister-in-law, Helen Coberly of Mt. Vernon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents; six brothers, Harold, Horold, Herman, Frank, Floyd and Junior Coberly; and two sisters, Dorothy Calvert and Shirley Higginson preceded her in death.

Mary was a certified nurses aide at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon before retiring. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was of the Christian faith.
