James Francis COCHRAN, a retired C. & E. I. Railroad engineer and a prominent member of the Masonic Lodge, died at 9:30 Saturday night at his home 304 Opdyke Avenue. He was 86y10m22d of age.

Over the years Mr. COCHRAN was a member and faithful worker in the Central Church of Christ. He was elder Emeritus of the church and at one time served as chairman of the church board.

Mr. COCHRAN was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, A. F. & A. M. Lodge No. 31, the Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templar. In 1963 the Patton Commandery presented him with a 50 year pin and 50 year certificate, honoring him for a half century of loyal service. The presentation was made by Clarence C. DeWITT, a Past Grand Commander of the Knight Templar in Illinois. Mr. COCHRAN, who joined the lodge in 1913, was a past commander of Patton Commandery No. 69. He was also a member of the Blue Lodge and of the Royal Arch Masons for more than 50 years.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Pulley Funeral Chapel, with Herbert WILSON officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.

Mr. COCHRAN was born March 8, 1878, at Windsor, Ill., the son of James Daniel and Elizabeth (HULL) COCHRAN.

He was married November 20, 1901, to Edith McMACKIN, who survives.

In July, 1963, he was preceded in death by his only son, Dr J. R. COCHRAN. He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Besides his wife, he is survived by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
