Judy (Carrell) Collins
Judy Collins, 80, of Manassas, Va., and a former Mt. Vernon resident, died 8:52 p.m. Oct. 22, 1999, at Annaburg Manor Nursing Home in Manassas. Mrs. Collins was the owner and operator of a beauty shop for several years. She was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Tucumcari, N.M., to Alonzo Lee and Florence Ethel (Lusk) Carrell. On Jan. 15, 1945, in Mona, Iowa, she married Marshall Dee Collins; he died April 4, 1986. Graveside services were held Tuesday at Bethel Memorial Cemetery, south of Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Larry W. Jones officiated the ceremony. Visiting for the family only was held at Hughey Funeral Home. Survivors include two sons, James E. Collins and wife Florence of Manassas, Va., and William B. Gerbitz of Carbondale; two daughters, Verna Mae Bolosan and husband Sammy of Stockton, Calif., and Melba Mick and husband Norval “Sunny” Mick Jr. of Mt. Vernon; a stepsister, Sara Jane Appleby of Orlando, Fla.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Collins was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Marshall D.
