Bruce T. Cope, 61, of Mt. Vernon, died 10:13 am April 10, 1995, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

Mr. Cope was a construction worker until failing health.

He was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Dobson, N.C., a son of William P. and Mary Ellen (Bulen) Cope.

April 19, 1949, in Peoria, he married Ruth L. Brown, who survives.

Graveside services will be 11 am Wednesday at Hopewell Cemetery with Rev. Hope Richardson officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 7 pm today at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mr. Cope was a Korean Army veteran enlisting April 27, 1953. He was discharged April 14, 1955.

He was a Baptist and a member of the Mt. Vernon VFW Post 1376.

In addition to his wife, Ruth Cope of Mt. Vernon, he is survived by four daughters, Patricia Cope, Mona Gregory and husband David, Ramona Cope, and Trisa Cope, all of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Billy T. Cope of Reginold, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Cope.
