Ruth Louise Cope, 65, of Mt. Vernon died 9:22 am Feb. 15, 1997, at Casey Care Center.

She was a cook for more than 35 years at several area restaurants.

Mrs. Cope was born May 17, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of William E. and Emma Helen (Beauford) Brown.

April 17, 1959, in Peoria, she married Bruce T. Cope, who died April 10, 1995.

Graveside services will be 1:30 pm Monday at Hopewell Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Hope Richardson officiating. Those attending the graveside services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Monday afternoon. Per request of Mrs. Cope, no public visitation will be held. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cope is survived by one son, Michael Wayne McMahon and wife Tina of Galesburg; daughters Patricia L. Cope of Mt. Vernon, Mona L. Gregory and husband David of Mt. Vernon, Ramona J. Cope of Mt. Vernon and Trisa Ann Cope of Mt. Vernon; a granddaughter, Jamie; three step grandchildren; a sister, Edna Keef and husband Edgar of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a Baptist.

Mrs. Cope was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
