Bennie Corsere
Bennie Corsere, 66, of Edwardsville, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died at 4:30 P.M. September18, 1999, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Corsere was a truck driver for 30 years out of the Consolidated Freightways terminal in St. Louis. He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Mt. Vernon to Vito and Minnie [Ancona] Corsere. Graveside services will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday at the Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Those attending the graveside services on Wednesday afternoon are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Schaefer and husband Michael of Prairietown; two grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Schaefer and Katelyn Danielle Schaefer; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Corsere wan an Army veteran who enlisted July 2, 1953 and was discharged June 1, 1955. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local 600. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Andy and Tony Corsere; one sister Josephine Baril. Memorials may be made to the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville athletic department and will be accepted at the funeral home.
