Double funeral services for the Rev. and Mrs. Douglas Cox, who were killed Wednesday afternoon in a flash flood near Appomattox, Va., will be held Tuesday, June 27, at 1:30 pm at Myers Chapel.

The Rev. Ray Wilkey and the Rev. Everett Lemay will preside at the services. Rev. and Mrs. Cox were killed while enroute to their daughter's wedding, which was to have been held Saturday at Fort Monroe, Va. Their car was swept off a bridge by a flash flood running down a small creek bed.

Douglas Cox was born on Jan. 24, 1909, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Roy and Lockie (Tolley) Cox.

He was employed as a sheetmetal worker at Vernois, Inc., and was a former chaplain at the Mt. Vernon State T. B. Sanitarium. He was a member of East Side Baptist church.

Mrs. Mary Alice Cox, was born on May 28, 1911, in Tamms, Ill., the daughter of William and Margie (Hargis) Hulen. She was also a member of East Side Baptist church.

Rev. and Mrs. Cox are survived by one daughter, Miss Janet Cox, Hampton, Va. Rev. Cox is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. DeEtta Heard, Chicago; two brothers, Homer Cox, Mt. Vernon, and Warner Cox, Miami, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Cox is also survived by two brothers, William Hulen, Waukegan, and Russel Hulen, Tamms; and four sisters, Mrs. Winifred Guthrie, Sikeston, Mo., Mrs. Margaret Mason, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Doris Cutrell, Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Norma Jean Porter, Richards Gebaur Air Force Base, Kansas City, Mo.

Friends may call at Myers Chapel after 5 pm Monday.
