Syrena (Bennett) Cox
Syrena Bennett Cox, A Former Resident, Dies Mrs. Syrena (Bennett) Cox, 61, wife of William Earl Cox of Broughton, died at the Pierce Hospital at Eldorardo at 9:00 p.m. Sunday. She was a former resident of Mt. Vernon and Bluford. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.mm. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. At 2:0 another service will be held at Mt. Olive, near Bluford, where burial will follow. The Rev. Bird Green will officiate at both Services. The body will lie in state at the Gholson Funeral Home. Mrs. Cox was born December 12, 1895 at Bluford, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Bennett. She is survived by her husband; one son, Donald Richardson of Chicago; two stepsons, Albert E. Cox of Ewing and Ora Lee Cox of Tonica, Ill.; three brothers, Charles Bennett of California, Frank Bennett of Massachusetts and Ed Bennett of Chicago; and two sisters, Miss Loretta Bennett of Chicago and Mrs. Elnora Gray of Mt. Vernon.
