Charles Scott Cremeens
Charles Scott Cremeens was born November 26th, 1945 in Russel, Kansas. He was often regarded to as Scott. In 1963, he graduated high school in Benton, IL. From there, he went to a tech school in Carbondale, IL to learn drafting. With that experience, he got a job with a machinist company in Rockford, IL. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and served two years. After coming home from the Army, he married Jeanne Payne December 20th, 1969. They both moved to Raleigh, NC in 1970 so Scott could finish at University of Missouri at Raleigh. In 1972, he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Scott took a job with General Tire in Charlotte, NC. Soon after, their first son, Brian, was born July, 1973. In 1975, Scott was able to transfer to the General Tire location in Mt.Vernon,IL. Their second son, Kevin, was born in February,1976. Scott continued to work at the General Tire location in Mt.Vernon until 1999. At that point Scott and Jeanne moved back to Charlotte, to work directly with Continental Tire. This new position brought him around the world, working internationally in such places as Germany, Mexico, India, Ecuador, Argentina and South Africa. Continental moved them to San Luis Potosi, Mexico from 2002-2007 and in India from 2007-2009. They moved down to Florida in 2009. From then, he did some consulting work for the rubber industry as well as selling health insurance. Scott was a very creative, giving, and loving person. He was very passionate about work, he loved to travel the world and had many great stories to tell. Scott loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and motorcycles. He also enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his two sons Brian and Kevin and three grandchildren. A Visitation will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
