Maggie Mae (Wilson) Hopkins Cross
Maggie Mae Cross, 89, of Mt. Vernon, died 4:40 a.m. Feb. 14, 1995, at Mt. Vernon Care Center. She was employed at Sylvania Corp. in Chicago for several years. Mrs. Cross was born Jan. 8, 1906, in St. Louis, a daughter of Mitt and Maggie (Alexander) Wilson. She first married Paul Hopkins and later married Rozier Lee Cross, and both preceded her in death. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., today at Hughey Funeral Home. Mrs. Cross is survived by two daughters, Beulah Mae Guthrie and husband Ed of Mt. Vernon, and Pauline Edmison of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Harold Lee Hopkins and wife Myrna of Saint Joesph, Mo., and Richard Cross and wife Carol of Strattford, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Summersville Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her parents, and two greatgrandsons, Jason Mowrer and Brandon Moore.
