Jo Dalby, 85, of Benton died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with Ron Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jo was born in Nason on March 2, 1923, the daughter of Richard Townsend and Malissa Jane (Harmon) Dalby.

She was retired from GTE in 1984 after 32 years.

She was a former member of the First Christian Church in Benton, and as of late attended the Church of Christ in Benton.

She is survived by one son, James M. "Jim" Odom and wife, Margaret, of Sparta, and three grandchildren, Alice Dalby Odom, Clara Abigail Odom and Samuel Philip Odom.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by brothers and sisters, Charles Edward Dalby, Richard Eugene Dalby, Clara Evelyn Sweetin, Samuel Arthur Dalby, Beauty Dalby, Knox Dalby, Herman and Harmon Dalby, Russell Dalby and Elsie McCullough.
