Vernon A. Damerow, 72, of Mt. Vernon died 6:31 p.m. March 26, 2006, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Damerow was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Marshfield, Wis., to Paul and Alvina (Pautz) Damerow.

He married Beverly (Nelson) Damerow July 4, 1964, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. The Rev. Frank Houston will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Damerow is survived by his wife, Beverly Damerow of Mt. Vernon; a son, Mark Damerow and wife Brandi of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Nicole Damerow and fiance Tony Tomarchio of Mt. Vernon and Dorene Damerow of Mt. Vernon; a granddaughter, Erika Damerow of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Betty Damerow of Greenwood, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Mr. Damerow loved the outdoors; he loved to fish and enjoyed gardening.
