Walter Nelson Davis, 72, a retired farmer of Route 2, Waltonville died at 12:35 a.m., today at Marion Veterans Hospital in Marion.

He was born in Jefferson County, on Jan. 21, 1906, the son of William Nelson and Ola Tressa (Newell) Davis.

He was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in the Army on Oct. 23, 1942 and gaining his discharge on Feb. 13, 1946.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m., at the Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Black Cemetery.

Mr. Davis is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Inex O. Davis, Waltonville; a great number of cousins and a host of friends in the McClelland Township. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lowell Davis
