Nellie Irene Davis, 77, died at 7:20 a.m. Monday in Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was employed by Carp's Department Store for several years.

Mrs. Davis was born on March 29, 1908 in Gibson County, Indiana, daughter of Alfred and Maude (Racine) Garrett.

Mrs. Davis first married Charles E. Yearwood, then married again in February, 1966 to Melcher C. Davis, who survives.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Gene Auxier officiating. Burial will follow at New Shiloh Cemetery.

In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. James (Mary Ellen) Capps of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Charles "Sonny" Yearwood and wife Phyllis of Mt. Vernon, Lee Yearwood and wife Elaine of Waco, Texas and Darrell Yearwood and wife Lynn of Godfrey; one stepson, Jack Davis and wife Virginia of Springfield; one sister, Marsha Richardson of Princeton, Indiana, 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church and the Woodlawn Rebekah Lodge No. 75.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jerry Allen Yearwood; one brother, one stepbrother; and one stepsister.
