Bernadine F. Davis, 64, 915 So. 20th St., died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday [March 29] at her home. She was an employee of Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory for 24 years.

Mrs. Davis was born in Jefferson County April 19, 1919, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret [Barva] Melton.

She was first married to Arvol Shehorn.

On May 7, 1969, in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Paul Davis, who survives.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her mother of Mt.Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Rich of Gulfport, Miss., one son, Melvin Leo Shehorn of Corvallis, Ore.; one stepson, Paul David Davis of San Francisco; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three step-grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; a daughter in law, Mrs. Linda Bruce of Wayne City; one sister, Mrs. Albert "Red" [Alpha] Gentles of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Lawrence "Bennie" Melton of Mt. Vernon, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Melvin Vandeloo, Monsignor James P. Burke, and the Rev. Gendall Davis officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Hughey Funeral Home, where the rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by one son, Jerry G. Shehorn; one grandson, Jerry Lee Shehorn; and her father.
