Doris Mae Davis, 77, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

She was born in Mt. Vernon on Dec. 3, 1930, a daughter of Henry Lee Gossage and Lulu Mae (Harpole) Gossage.

She married Ermal Lee Davis on May 20, 1950, in Benton, and he preceded her in death in June 11,2004.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Ed Sprinkle officiating.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will he from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Doris is survived by a son, Robert "Bob" Davis and wife Rebecca of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Brenda Crofford and husband Ronald of Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandchildren, Corey Crofford of Virginia Beach and Robin Dillman and husband Shawn of Virginia Beach; two greatgrandchildren, Rylie Marie and Amelia Louise Dillman; sister, Dorothy Sechrest and husband Bob of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, her husband and infant brother preceded her in death.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, PO. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
