Gilbert Davis, of 612 S. 19th, died at 11:25 a.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital at age 73. Funeral services will be held at Myers Chapel, Rev F.L. Trotter and Rev. Ross Partrideg officiating. Burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Davis born in Jefferson County May 12,1895, son of Cyrus and Florence (Gilbert) Davis.

Married July 6, 1916 in Mt. Vernon to Anna Shehorn.

Survivors are 3 sons, Leslie, Charles Ray, of Yucca Valley, Ca and Norman Davis of Gary, Ind. 3 Daughters, Doris (Mrs Tomas Short Jr), Betty (Mrs Preston Dulaney), both of St Louis and Barbara (Mrs Donald Price) of Mt Vernon. Two brothers, Arthus Davis of Mt Vernon and Ernie Davis of Millstadt, two sisters, Mrs Stella Arnold of Mt. Vernon and Mrs Opal Parker of Evansville, a half sister, Lila Nolta of Mt Vernon, 15 grandchild and 11 great grandchildren.

Gilbert was a former employee of Mt. Vernon Knitting Mill, Mt Vernon Car Mfg Co, and Dowzer Electric. Member of the the B.R.C. of A. and the Logan Street Baptist Church.
