John Wendell Davis
John W. Davis John W. Davis, 50, of Fairfield, died at noon Tuesday at his home. He was the owner of the John Davis Truck and Tractor Service in Fairfield. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Dixon and Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Bro. David Dean and Fr. Wilbert H. Iffert officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Ramona; two daughters, Linda Davis, at home and Mrs. Donna Pranger, Manhattan, Kansas; his mother, Mrs. Ada Davis, Fairfield; a brother, Roger Davis, Ohlahoma City, Okla.; and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D.E. McKinney of Mt. Vernon.
**Note from Sandy: John Wendell Davis was born March 12, 1926 and died March 30, 1976. John Davis was the son of Cooper B. Davis and Ada Blake. Cooper and Ada owned and lived on the farm right across the road from the Salem (Mateer-Davis) Cemetery in Four Mile Twp. Wayne County, IL. Cooper was my maternal grandfather, Alfred Davis's older brother.
