Martha Davis, aged 102 years, died at the residence of her son, J. E. Davis, last week. She was probably one of the oldest persons in Illinois. She was the mother of fourteen children, and came here from North Carolina forty-one years ago.

Note from Sandy: Martha "Patsy" Davis was the 2nd wife of my 4th great grandfather, Reece Davis (1790-1854). She married Reece August 18, 1823 in Surry Co, NC. She and Reece had 9 children and Reece and unknown first wife had 5 children. We have family stories that say they are buried at Black Oak Ridge Cemetery but I have never found a stone for them there.
