Verner Davis Of Mt. Vernon Died At Age 93 Verner N. Davis, 93, Route 1, died 8:15 p.m. Sept. 4, 1990, at the home of his son in Wappapello, Mo. Mr. Davis was a retired farmer. He was born March 27, 1897, in Jefferson County, a son of William and Anna (Jones) Davis. May 5, 1921 in Jackson, Mo., he married Elleta (Newell) Stewart, who survives. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Davis is survived by one son, Charlie Stewart and wife Bethel, of Wappapello, Mo.; one brother, Burrell Davis of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Vena Pace of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren, Barry Stewart and Claudette Vogel; three great-grandson, Lynn Godair, Chuck Stewart and Scott Stewart; and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Davis was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Billie Bob Davis; and one sister, Jewell Lucher.
