Orland C. Dees, age 92, of Waltonville, died at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday June 5, 2008 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Orland was born June 11, 1915 in Blissville Township to Homer E. and Elsie (Corgan) Dees.

He married Nina B. Jones on October 1, 1938 in Morganfield, Kentucky; She preceded him in death on April 17, 2005.

Orland served his country in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He retired from Sears and Roebuck in Mount Vernon and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waltonville.

Orland is survived by two sons, Charles Dees and wife Carole of Bonnie, IL and Ernest Dees and wife Debra of Mt. Vernon, IL; four grand daughters, Angela and husband Douglas Summers, Shelley and husband Mitch McDowell, Crystal Rodotz and Special Friend Ed Nation, and Stacie and husband Mark Kilman; one grand son-in-law Steve Snow; one brother, Chester Dees of Waltonville, IL; one sister, Blanche Flatt of Benton; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter Twila Snow, and one infant great-granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday June 9th at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Rev. Tom Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Prairie Cemetery with military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville.
