Joseph Denton Dies At Age 78; Rites Saturday

Funeral services for Joseph A. "Lonnie" Denton will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pulley Funeral Chapel with Dr. Don Crocker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens. Jefferson Post 141, American Legion will conduct military rites at the grave. The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Denton, of 1228 Rutledge Road in Bloomington, Ill., died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday in Brokaw Hospital at Normal.

He formerly lived at 1125 North Street in this city.

Before retirement in 1960 he was employed as chief tie and timber inspector for the C. & E. I. Railroad in this city.

He was born July 18, 1889 in Alexander county, the son of Joseph and Irene (Palmer) Denton.

On April 22, 1926 at Cairo, he was married to Bertie E. Bradshaw, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, William J. Denton of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. Brenda K. Curtis of Bloomington, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Denton, a veteran of World War One, was a member of King City Barracks Veterans of World War One, and the local American Legion.
