Robert Alexander Dodson

Robert Alexander DODSON, 60 years a resident of Mt. Vernon, died at his home, 301 East Broadway, at 12:55 a.m. today, following an illness of about three weeks duration. His age was 63 years, 3 months and 21 days.

He was born December 15, 1873 in Fayetteville, Ark., the son of Archibald and Matilda DODSON, both of whom preceded him in death many years ago.

In 1897 he was united in marriage with Nancy A. COCHRAN, his widow surviving.

Mr. DODSON was proprietor of a combination filling station and grocery on East Broadway, having been in business there for several years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at Myers Chapel, conducted by Rev. Bird GREEN. The body will remain at Myers Chapel until the funeral hour, where it may be viewed by his friends at any convenient time.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two half-brothers, Alfred and Alva DODSON, both of Mt. Vernon; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Ida FELTMAN and Mrs. B. J. FINCH.

A resident of this city for more than half a century, Mr. DOBSON, known generally as "Bob," was widely known and liked here, conducting his business fairly and honestly. He was a model citizen and held in the highest respect by all who knew him. His word once given was religiously kept, and he stood high as a man and citizen. He never forgot an old friend, and was social by nature, and never had a known enemy.
