Gertrude "Gertie" C. (Crane) Dorris
Gertrude "Gertie" C. Dorris, 90, of 919 Lamar, late of the Jefferson Manor Nursing Home, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a member of the Boyd Christian Church since she was 16-years-old. Mrs. Dorris was born Feb. 28, 1887, in Jefferson county, the daughter of William and Christina (Snow) Crane. She was first married to Robert M. Tate in Dix on Dec. 14, 1905. After his death, she later married Claude Dorris on October 29, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1960. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hughey Pulley Funeral Home with J. Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after -- p.m. Mrs. Dorris is survived by two sons Herman Vasco Tate of Mt. Vernon, two daughters Mrs. Doris C. Lowth Milwaukee, Wisc. and Mrs. Thelma F. Hamblen of Monroe Center, Wisc.; 14 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren 11 great great grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Ellen Wilson of Mt. Vernon. Besides her husbands, Mrs. Dorris was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and three brothers.
