Vera B. (Brown) Drennan
Vera B. Drennan, 88, of Mt. Vernon died 9:13 p.m. October 17, 2003, at St Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born March 5, 1915, to Orville and Elizabeth (Meredith) Brown in Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Drennan, on May 13, 1966. Mrs. Drennan was a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and was an office manager for the Illinois Department of Unemployment until her retirement. She also served her country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon. She is survivied by a son, Stanley Drennan and wife Rebecca of Mt. Vernon; 2 grandchildren, Chris Drennan and wife Amy of Opdyke and Casey Drennan of Mt. Vernon; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kendyl Ann and Ethan Drennan of Opdyke. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clyde Brown; and 2 sisters, Rose McDaniel and Mavis Hopper. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Churck Ellis and Rev. Everett Lemay officiating and burial at Bethel Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.
