Emma (Lee) Earls
Emma Lee Earls, daughter of William and Susan Lee, was born January 18, 1869 in McClellan Township and departed this life at her home near Waltonville on August 13, 1936. Her age was 67 years, 6 months, and 25 days. She was united in marriage to John W. Earls on April 11, 1891 and to this union were born eleven children: Warner and Madeline who died in infancy, Earl, Richard, Emma, Maude, Pearl, Susie, Flora, Johnnie, and Verner. Besides the sorrowing husband and children, she leaves to mourn their great loss one brother, John Lee and one sister, Dona Sugg and many other relatives and friends. Also her aged step-mother, Mrs. Bernice Lee, and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Earls had been ill for the past five months when she underwent an operation at the Mt. Vernon Hospital last April. Since then she has been confined to her bed and has gradually grown weaker until her death. Mrs. Earls was one of the best known residents of McClellan Township where she had spent her entire life. She was converted many years ago to the Methodist faith and always lived the life of a sincere Christian. Her loss will be deeply felt in her hem where she was a loving and devoted wife and mother and in the community where she was a useful and respected citizen. the loving sympathy of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances is with the bereaved family in their hour of sorrow.
