Danny Ray Eaves, 65, of Dix, died 4:09 p.m. Friday Jan. 20, 2006, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He worked for many years as a grade school custodian.

Mr. Eaves was born February 14, 1940 in St. Louis, MO to Russell and Mildred (Jones) Eaves.

His first union was with Helen Eaves on July 22, 1961 and they had five children and his second union was with Janet Eaves on December 17, 1976 and they had one child, all are surviving.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Glen Hammons officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Veterans Cemetery. Military gravesides rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 141 of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Eaves is survived by two sons, Russell Ray Eaves of Oklahoma, and Brian Joseph Eaves of Texas. Four daughters, Theresa Lynn Foster of Mt. Vernon, IL and Angela Sue Eaves and Mary Catherine Quintanilla both of Texas. Christina Jo Eaves of Florida. Eleven Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Russell Eaves and "Pete" (William) Eaves.

Mr. Eaves attended the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served as an Air Traffic Controller.
