RAY H. ELLIS, 78 of Mount Vernon, Illinois, died at 5:15 A.M. Friday, June 1, 2007 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

He was born on Wednesday, April 3, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the son of Albert Ellis and Mabel (Fulford) Ellis.

He married Anna Jean Meador on July 23, 1955 in Carmi, Illinois. He retired from 29 years at Mt. Vernon Radiator and was also a farmer.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: was held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2007 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Garlin Burris and Reverend Les Sinks officiated.

VISITATION: was from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

INTERMENT: followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Surviving family members include: Wife: Anna Jean Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Son: Roy Ellis and wife Kelley of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 Daughters: Rhonda George and special friend Larry Knopp of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Raegena Tucker of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 5 Grandchidren: Frank Thompson III of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Jeremy Thompson of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Brian Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Amelia Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Sara Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 Great Grandchildren: Garrett Thompson of Bluford, Illinois and Jaiden Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

His parents, two brothers and one infant daughter: Roberta Dean Ellis preceded him in death.

Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, was a member of the D.A..V. and lifetime member of the V.F.W.
