Veeta Mae Ellis
Veeta Mae Ellis, 72, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 11:26 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born in Jefferson City, Mo., on March 2, 1936, a daughter of James Wesley and Bula Hattie (Gustin) Logan. She first married Carl Wayne Ison, and he preceded her in death in 1962. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Flint Cemetery in Belle Rive with the Rev. Bob Meyer officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no public visitation held. Veeta is survived by a son, Larry Ison of Belle Rive; two daughters, Kathaleen Holmes and husband Clint of Belle Rive and Carla Ison ofMt. Vernon; grandchildren, James Sontheimer and wife Diane of Cabool, Mo.,Amy Keys of Belle Rive and Jason Holmes of Grandin, Mo.; sister, Elaine Berlien and husband Cecil of North Fort Myer, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Veeta loved to garden, crochet and work in her garden. Her parents; first husband; three brothers, Zedward Logan, Johnnie Logan, and Ullman Logan; and sister, Cleta Burleson preceded her in death.
