Louisa Elstun
Mrs. Louisa ELSTUN, was born near Nashville,Tenn., Oct. 29, 1810, and at the time of her death, Nov. 23, 1898, was 88 years and 25 days old. At the age of 18 years she was wedded to Ralph ELSTUN, with whom she lived first in Frankfort, then in Benton, and finally at DuQuoin, Ill. where he died, May 24th, 1882. After Mr.ELSTUN'S death his widow lived in Colorado, Evanston, Mt. Vernon and at Thompsonville, at which latter place she died happy in a Christian's faith and hope. To Mr. and Mrs. Elstun were born 11 children, two of whom died in infancy, and since two others have died, Walter ELSTUN in Kansas and Mrs. Martha MCCREERY, DuQuoin, Ill. The remaining seven children survive their mother. They are: Mrs. Mary NEELY, Evanston, Ill.,; Mrs. Sarah MCCREERY, Thompsonville, Ill,; Ralph and Walter ELSTUN, Colorado; Chas. G. ELSTUN, Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Louise JACKSON and Mrs. Florence LEGGE, Mt. Vernon, Ill. Mrs. ELSTUN was converted more than 58 years ago and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. The funeral services occurred at the residence of the deceased's granddaughters, the Misses MCCREERY in DuQuoin, Ill.,and was conducted by Rev. Chas. D. MCCAMMON, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., and J.Y. REID, of DuQuoin, Ill. Interment was made in DuQuoin cemetery.
