Gerald E. England, 60, of Bonnie died 8:30 a.m. Nov. 24, 2003, at St. Mary's/Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He sold ads for the Mt. Vernon Register-News until failing health.

Mr. England was born Aug. 6, 1943, in Jefferson County to Velma Marie (Piercy) and William B. (Weep) England Jr.

He married Gloria (Tucker) England April 10, 1965, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Chuck Ellis will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. England is survived by his wife, Gloria England of Bonnie, sons Scott England and wife Jackie of Waltonville and Kevin England of Mt. Vernon; daughters Melissa Reed and husband Eric of Waltonville and Melanie England of Woodlawn; grandchildren Jaime England of Waltonville, Christopher England of Waltonville, Deanna England of Mt. Vernon and Ryan England of Mt. Vernon;a brother Gary England and wife Georgia of Mt. Vernon; and a sister Sharon Utlaut and husband Sterling of Waltonville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. England was a member of Waltonville Freewill Baptist Church, American Legion Post 141, Waltonville AMVETS and the Jefferson County Masonic Lodge.

He enjoyed softball, followed sports with his family and was active with the Waltonville Little League.
