William B. "Weep" England Jr., 81, of Mt.Vernon, died at 8:16 a.m. June 8, 2000, at his home.

Mr. England was employed at Vernois Inc./Stove Foundry for 40 years and retired in 1981.

He was born July 18, 1918, in Jefferson County, a son of William England and Mary (Chamness) England.

He married Velma Piercy on November 9, 1940, in St. Louis Mo.; she survives.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Old Shiloh Cemetery with the Rev. Olen Weatherford officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. Those attending the graveside services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Saturday morning.

In addition to his wife, of Mt. Vernon, Mr. England is survived by two sons, Gerald England and wife Gloria of Bonnie and Gary England and wife Georgia of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Sharon Utlaut and husband Sterling of Waltonville; nine grandchildren, Scott England and wife Jackie, Kevin England, Bill England, Jeff England, Shawn Utlaut, Missy England, Melanie England, Carolyn Phillips and husband Shane, and Sheila Robbers and husband Shawn; eight great-grandchildren, Jaime England, Allison England, Deanna England, Justin England, Ryan England, Shayna Phillips, Jordan Phillips and Dustin Robbers; three brothers, Charles England and wife Doris of Mt. Vernon, Bob England and wife Peg of Woodlawn, and Donald England and wife Phyllis of Mt. Vernon; one sister Glenda Kohute and husband Gene of Nason; brother-in-law Howard Phillips of Mt. Vernon; sister-in-law Nadine England of Mt. Vernon, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. England was a member of the Methodist Faith, American Legion Post 141 in Mt. Vernon and was a trustee of the board of Old Shiloh Cemetery. He was an Air Force Tech sergeant and veteran of World War II, and was a past president of the Steel Workers Union at Vernois Inc. He was a very devoted family man and enjoyed each of his children's accomplishments as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Old Shiloh Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
