Mrs. Samuel Erwin

Mrs. Samuel Erwin, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie H. Way, on North Green street, this morning of pnuemonia, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Erwin was born in Montgomery county, Pa., March 14, 1818, where her early girlhood was spent. When sixteen years of age she removed with her parents to Columbiana, O., where she lived the greater part of her life.

Three years after going to Ohio she was married to Samuel Erwin, at Franklin Square, a village in that state, near which her parents resided. Of this union four children, two daughters and two sons, were born, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Lizzie H. Way, of this city; Mrs. W. S. Hisy, of St. Louis; Clarkson Erwin, of Ingalls, Ok; and Edwin Erwin, of Kansas City, Mo. The two latter have been apprised by telegraph of their mother's death and are expected tomorrow.

Deceased had been resident of Mt. Vernon during the past winter, having come here on the 24th of last October for a visit with her daughter and other relatives. She was taken ill last Thursday afternoon with acute pneumonia and although every endeavor that skill and experience could suggest was made by Dr. J. H. Mitchell, her physician, they were unable to arrest the progress of the malady due to her weakened position.

A service will be held over the remains here, probably sometime on Monday, after which the body will be taken to Columbiana for burial. Mrs. Way and Mrs. Hisy will accompany the body to Ohio, where the obsequies will take place.
