Laura Estes, 90 Dies Early Today Rites Wednesday Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Estes of 1015 South 12th Street died at 7:45 a.m. today in Jefferson Memorial Hospital at the age of 90 years, seven months and three days. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel with Rev. Carl Whittington and the Rev. F. L. Trotter officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Memorial Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Estes was born Feb. 8, 1877, in Spring Garden township, the daughter of Robert Marion and Louisa (Page) Bumpus. In Spring Garden on Dec. 1, 1895, she was married to John C. Estes, who preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1944. She was also preceded in death by two sons; Ralph and Harel Estes. Survivors include a son, Roy L. Estes; a daughter, Mrs. Marvin Powers; a sister, Mrs. Ollie Miller, all of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Mrs. Estes was a member of Second Baptist Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors of American Lodge.
