"Uncle Ned" (J. E.) Farthing
CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES AT BONNIE THURSDAY MORNING "Uncle Ned" (J. E.) Farthing died at the home of his son Harve Farthing at Bonnie early this morning. Mr. Farthing was about 85 years old and spent his life in this county. In his younger days he took an active interest in politics and was elected to office a number of times in this township, serving one term as Supervisor, during one year of which he served as Chairman of the County Board. Mr. Farthing served in the Civil War and was one of the oldest veterans in this section. He is survived by four sons Mike, of Mt. Vernon, Jesse, Harve and W. H. of Bonnie.
