Nijel (Cockrum) Fowler
(includes picture) Nijel Fowler, 89, of Ina died 10:51 p.m. March 8, 1998, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center, Mt. Vernon. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Fowler was born Dec. 27, 1908, in Jefferson County, a daughter of William Floyd and Cora Patterson Cockrum. June 13, 1933, in Jefferson County, she married Fred Fowler who died Sept. 16, 1976. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Capps and the Rev. Larry Clyatt officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Fowler is survived by four sons, Hugh Dale Fowler and wife Roberta of Ina, Fred Gale Fowler and wife Sharon of Ina, Curtis Fowler and wife Brenda of Ina and Keith Fowler and wife Loretta of Ina; nine grandchildren, Stephen Fowler of Benton, Joy Schroeder of Mt. Vernon, Wayne Fowler of Ina, Susan Slamans of Sugar Grove, Todd Fowler of Ina, Cindy Dulin of Swansea, Christopher Fowler of Ina, David Fowler of Ina and Anthony Dale Fowler of Ina; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ora Baker of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, six sisters and one grandson Brandon Gale Fowler.
