Morton FRED, 61, of Route 1, Mt. Vernon, died at Good Samaritan Hospital Saturday night.

Mr. FRED was born on June 25, 1916, in Jefferson County, the son of Samuel and Etta (BECKMAN) FRED.

He was married to Kathleen COCKRUM, who survives.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser, with the Rev. Louie HANNA officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Mr. FRED is survived by his wife Kathleen; two daughters, Marlene ILBERY, Mt. Vernon, and Betty Linheart, Belleville; one son, Marvin, Los Angeles; a brother, William S. FRED, West Frankfort; two sisters, Beulah HICKS, Scheller, and Alma LOVETT, Urbana; and several grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded Mr. FRED in death.
