Elzie Thomas Funkhouser

E. T. Funkhouser Dies Saturday At Age 42 Years

Elzie Thomas Funkhouser died at 9:30 Saturday night at his home, 1005 Gilbert street.

Mr. Funkhouser, an employe of the Auto-Lite plant here, was 42 years four months and 28 days of age.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist church. The Rev. Carl Whittington and the Rev. Sam McCoy will officiate and burial will be at Bethel Memorial cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call. At 1: p.m. Tuesday the body will be moved to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour.

Mr. Funkhouser was born June 29, 1912 in Dale, Ill., the son of Thomas J. and Annie Elizabeth (Lemay) Funkhouser.

On April 1, 1931 he was married to Lillian Irene Davis, who survives.

Mr. Funkhouser was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his father, Thomas Funkhouser of Mt. Vernon ; two sons, Ray and Earl, both at home; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Torres of Port Royal, South Carolina and Myrna, at home; two brothers, Ed and Stanley of Mt. Vernon; and one grandchild.
