Roberta Lynn "Bertie" Garrison, 58, of Dix died 5:30 p.m. July 18, 2005, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was a secretary for Alexander Wholesale.

Mrs. Garrison was born June 25, 1947, in Mt. Vernon to Henry and Mabel Simmons Goddard.

She married Rodger Garrison Dec. 20, 1990, in Dix; he preceded her in death Nov. 25, 2002.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Gilead Cemetery in Dix. Jim Watts will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.

Mrs. Garrison is survived by brothers Benny Goddard and wife Beverly of Dix and Gary Goddard and wife Diane of Dix and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Mrs. Garrison attended Rome Grade School and Mt. Vernon High School. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She was a member of AMVETS and the American Legion in Mt. Vernon. She was a lifetime member of the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman Club, where she served as secretary for many years.
