Ruis LeBen Garrison
Ruis LeBen Garrison, 76, of Columbia, Mo., and formerly of Mt. Vernon died Oct. 31, 1997, in Columbia, Mo. He was a real estate appraiser. Mr. Garrison was born June 1, 1921, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Ruis Hughes Garrison and Nell Milburn Garrison. Nov. 27, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, he married Mary Marcum. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Rhein officiating. Those attending the services on Saturday are asked to go directly to the cemetery.Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnston Funeral in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Garrison is survived by one son, John Ruis Garrison of St. Louis; three daughters, Lee Ann Garrison Strini of Milwaukee, Jane Garrison Ward of Peoria and Nancy Garrison Kaelin of Columbia, Mo.; and seven grandchildren. He served with the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He served the Mt. Vernon Community by participating with the school board, zoning board, Mt. Vernon Jaycees, including 1951 Young Man of the Year Award. He also developed the Country Heights Subdivision in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Garrison was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Margaret Dillingham Garrison; wife; and one sister. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American cancer Society and will be accepted at the Johnston Funeral Home.
